The Chanjo Hub team at Imperial College London had an inspiring and hands-on workshop in Pretoria alongside Tsepo Tsekoa and his fantastic colleagues at Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Supported by the Academy of Medical Sciences networking grant, the event brought together our teams and wider regional network to define actionable priorities for strengthening vaccine and therapeutic R&D and production in Africa.
Our discussions centred on diversified and resilient approaches - including plant molecular pharming - guided by innovative product needs, stakeholder alignment and realistic partnership opportunities that can drive meaningful impact across the continent.
We were delighted to reconnect with our partners from Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Liselo Labs and to meet participants from the African Centre for Gene Technologies, the Uganda National Biotechnology Centre and others who joined us and generously shared their insights and experience.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed. We look forward to building on this momentum together.
